The Buzz: Director Carlos Saldanha, distributor Twentieth Century Fox, and animation house Blue Sky Studios are looking beyond the slightly creaky Ice Age franchise and clearly this sequel represents their intention of developing a second global phenomenon. The first Brazilian adventure was successful in the U.S. but the real measure of its appeal lay elsewhere and given the overseas popularity of the most recent Ice Age ($715 million vs. $160 million in the States) we hope to see an increasingly diverse cast sign up for the third chapter.

Director:Ivan Reitman |

The Buzz: As an 8-episode HBO mini-series, I'm all over this and I see a ticker-tape parade complete with Emmy and Golden Globes nominations for Ivan Reitman and his cast. As a film? A potential sleeper hit a la Reitman's Dave if everyone is lucky. The sports drama that is truly buzzing is Million Dollar Arm.
Oculus (2013)
A woman tries to exonerate her brother, who was convicted of murder, by
proving that the crime was committed by a supernatural phenomenon.

The Buzz: We're pretty sure that not even Nicolas Cage has as many movies coming out this year as emerging star Brenton Thwaites, who here plays the tormented brother to Karen Gillan (who will next be seen as Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy). On deck for Thwaites after this cheapie horror flick - which hopefully has a throwback appeal to it - is Maleficent followed by Sundance phenom The Signal and young-adult bait The Giver.
Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)
A story centered on two vampires who have been in love for centuries.
Director:Jim Jarmusch |

The Buzz: That Tom Hiddleston is hot enough to cause Tilda Swinton to fly from Tangiers to Detroit is one of many truths to be found in this music-soaked vampire fantasy from Jim Jarmusch, who is flirting with the mainstream for the first time since 2005's Broken Flowers.
The Railway Man (2013)
A victim from World War II's "Death Railway" sets out to find those

The Buzz: Considered at one time to be an awards contender, this true story finds itself part of The Weinstein Company's 2014 spring cleaning, as the mini-major studio has released a handful of films over the past few weeks.
Joe (2013)
An ex-con, who is the unlikeliest of role models, meets a 15-year-old

Director:David Gordon Green |

The Buzz: As filmmaker David Gordon Green continues to steep in his independent-film roots by taking a break from his recent string of stoner comedies (he was responsible for Pineapple Express, Your Highness, and The Sitter), Nicolas Cage is enjoying one-off McConaughey -like praise for his starring role here. Quietly amassing a series of remarkable roles is his co-star, Tye Sheridan.
Cuban Fury (2014)
Beneath Bruce Garrett's under-confident, overweight exterior, the
passionate heart of a salsa king lies dormant. Now, one woman is about

The Buzz: Chris O'Dowd gets the Simon Pegg role in Nick Frost's first solo outing which might catch on if there's anything in it for older audiences.

The Buzz: Just like the genre it parodies, this spoof was rewarded with a sequel after earning back more than its entire budget on opening weekend. And Marlon Wayans will work to keep this story going until audiences just say no.
